Snow and Ice (provisional title)
The natural environment of Japan changes dramatically with the seasons, and many artworks have been created that focus on winter and the effects of snow and ice. This exhibition presents artistic treatments of snow and ice in painting and sculpture as well as explaining these phenomena from a scientific point of view. It provides cool images to alleviate the heat of summer in Tatebayashi, one of the hottest places in Japan.

Colorful Sculpture
Sculpture can fascinate the viewer through color as well as the beauty of its materials - whether stone, metal, or wood. Sculpture can come in many colors. Modern-age bronze sculpture is often given a black patina. Marble is a lovely, translucent white. Carvings on some Japanese temples and shrines are painted in multiple gorgeous colors. Contemporary sculptors do not hesitate to use color as part of their three-dimensional expression. In this exhibition, we focus on color in modern and contemporary sculpture, showing the unique and diverse possibilities of sculptural expression.

Ryota Mori: 20 Years After His Death
Ryota Mori (1952-1993) is a sculptor born in Tatebayashi. He won many awards in the competitive exhibitions of art associations and seemed assured of a successful career until he died in an automobile accident at age 41 while traveling to his newly built studio on Mt. Akagi. Marking the 20 anniversary of his death, we look back on Morifs achievements in stone sculpture.
